Lessons and Assignments
- Lesson #1: Introduction of student/instructor. Exchange of information relevant to the conduct of the lessons, including experience with how communications can be achieved.
- Lesson #2: Establish a "research statement" to define the help essence of your search activities.
- Lesson #3: Create an account with an online bibliographic service and practice input of data into the system as well as obtain final copy of that input.
- Lesson #4: Use data from #2 to find/evaluate potential information sources (i.e. books) from online library catalogs and create a bibliographic statement for each source selected.
- Lesson #5: Use data from #2 to find/evaluate potential information sources (i.e. journals) from online indexes and other databases. Some databases may be full text. Create the appropriate bibliographic statement and obtain output.
- Lesson #6: Use data from #2 to find/evaluate potential information sources from other than book/journal sources on the internet. Create the appropriate bibliographic statements and obtain output.
- Lesson #7: The PROJECT. Repeat the experiences of lessons #2,4-6 to demonstrate your understanding of the methods and presentation of a cumulative effort of 'research'.
