What can we assume on the part of participant skills and knowledge?
- faculty will have either taken iTeach or have extensive experience with online teaching
- do we want to stipulate that they are scheduled to teach a distance course the following semester?
- faculty will have questions about what they have done so far and what they want to achieve with a second iTeach experience.
- faculty will understand the use of their learning management system (Blackboard or UAS online)
- may be aspects of learning management system they are not putting to best use
- faculty will have some idea of a community of learners/community of practice and want to go further
- faculty will have some idea of UBD but will benefit from a more in depth exploration of it in regards to their specific courses
- faculty may have specific ideas of new projects or learning activities and want to know the best approach/technology -
- may involve learning a new technology, may involve planning activity(ies), may involve help with developing instructions for students etc.
- can they propose their new idea in advance so we can plan our sessions around their interests
- definitely! In fact, it might be good to form sub-groups based on their interests. Sort-of like learning tracks. Then have them cross-pollinate by sharing progress and ideas in combined sessions.
- Was this going to be open to people from other MAUs or does UAS/Sitka have all the people they need lined up?
- Yes! anyone who has already attended iTeach
- And I think we said that we would shoot for 12 faculty.
