  • 9:15 - 10 -> Carol talks about big picture
  • Big Picture - you as a lifelong learner, personal learning environments, engaging in the community of practice, including us (the iteachers)
  • 10 - 11:15 -> Digital Literacy Part I - Cut/Copy/Paste, basic file saving, Firefox Browser preferences, bookmarks tool bar, plug-ins: Heidi
  • 11:15 - 11:30 -> break
  • 11:30 - 12:30 -> Digital literacy Part II - Google reader, show how to use basics of browser and feed reader (google reader) to make time more efficient - subscribe to blogs, portfolio, flickr: Heidi/Carol
  • 12:30 - 1:30 -> lunch
  • 1:30 - 2:30 -> Short discussion of blogging - this is why you want to blog, how they should reflect on what they're learning, and share it with the community of practice: Carol
  • 2:30 - 2:45 -> break
  • 2:45 - 3:45 -> customizing UASOnline/Blackboard - Maureen
  • 3:45 - 4 -> break
  • 4 - 5 -> Discuss outcomes (enduring understandings) and talk about being learner centered: Carol

  • 9 - 10 -> Assessments Part I: Examples, case studies (ie. how might a history assessment be different from a web authoring course)...what's the purpose of assessments? Main idea: to break the mold of writing and tests as primary modes of assessing students; Facets of Understanding - theory that follows on case studies we just looked at: Carol

Day 3:

  • 9 - 10:30 -> Learning Activities Part I (may include a variety of things such as photo-blogging, managing pictures (flickr, blackboard), and so forth): theory of learning activities and how it proceeds from facets of understanding and assessments, and enduring understandings and specific examples of learning activities to utilize; problem-based approach, if you were teaching this what kinds of tools could you use?: Heidi will lead - get examples from Maureen, Matt and Carol on different learning activities.

  • 10:45 - 12:15 -> UASOnline Portfolio (add reference to googlereader for portfolio feeds) - Matt

  • 1:15 - 2:00 -> Breeze/Softchalk: Maureen (brief discussion and demo of how faculty may have used it in varied ways)and SoftChalk (An overview of its capabilities without a "how to" would be nice. We can do the "how to's" with one on one training at another time. Maureen has worked with Sitka faculty developing Softchalk lessons and could provide a great demo of the product. I would think some of the other faculty may also find this to be a very interesting product.)'''

  • 9 - 10:30 -> Elluminate Part I (theory of synchronous learning, case studies, why is this type of interaction valuable? and then of course how to use it) - for sure get participants on elluminate, maybe get them on from the beginning: Sage (by elive) and Maureen
  • 10:30 - 10:45 -> break
  • 10:45 - 12:00 -> Elluminate Part II: more practice (breakout groups, moderator priv) Sage (by elive)
  • 12:00 - 1:00 -> lunch
  • 1:00 - 2:00 -> Classroom Management basics (Elluminate/Blackboard/UASOnline): Maureen/Carol
  • 2:00 - 3 -> second life demo: Christen (by distance)

  • 9 - 10:00 -> Summary of Everything - (IDers show own PLE and how you manage your information - decide which tools each will present): Carol
  • 10:00 - 10:30 -> HelpDesk representative - what's the process for getting help.
  • 10:30 - 10:45 -> break
  • 10:45 - 12:15 - >Work Plan (1/2 hour to fill plan in) - break up into groups and show work plan to each other (1 hour for that): Heidi
  • 12:15 - 1:15 -> lunch
  • 1:15 - 2:45 -> Show and Tell for Participants (limit 3-4 minutes): Matt
  • 2:45 - 3:30 -> Follow-Up Obligations and share work plan: Carol
