What is iDesign?

iDesign seeks to explore topics that affect the philosophy, process, and production of curriculum for higher education. A select group of Instructional Designers who have an immediate impact on course development practices around the state of Alaska have been invited to attend in order to create a diverse, robust, motivated group for discussion and further activities.

For more information about this year's iDesign search the "2008" tag, or contact Christen Bouffard.

Agenda Adjustment

This is just a note that the agenda for this year’s iDesign has shifted slightly. The change is nothing major, but we did shift things around to accommodate a mapping and KML workshop on the afternoon of the 23rd (more on that here).

Some of this year’s activity will revolve around mapping mashups and using the Globe for learning. There are examples of mashed maps tagged “idesignak2008 on del.icio.us. If you have any examples you would like to share in this list just be sure to include the tag “idesignak2008″.

2008 iDesign Travel

We’ve already seen amazing response from our invitations, so I thought I would post more information about travel for this year’s event. First off, if you are a UA employee we will be covering your travel expenses for you (to include airline ticket, lodging, and per diem).

We’re recommending Sophie’s Station for the hotel because it is within walking distance of the CDE office (where we will be hosting iDesign). The Aspen is also a nice place and within walking distance for all of you power-walkers out there. Don’t forget that CDE has moved in the past year and is now located at 2175 University Ave S., in Fairbanks.

Donna Hertzler
will be handling travel this year. If you forward her you preferred flight itinerary, she can arrange your airline ticket for you.

If you have any additional questions please let me know, either in the comments or by sending an email.
